Introducing the VoltHub Rebate: Up to $400 Off Your Heat Pump Water Heater, Anytime

Team VoltHub

July 30, 2026

VoltHub, a climate tech startup based in Los Angeles, is excited to announce the VoltHub Rebate — a post-installation rebate of up to $400 on heat pump water heater installations, available to California homeowners statewide starting August 3, 2026.

Unlike our seasonal group buys, the VoltHub Rebate is always on. There's no reservation window, no waitlist, and no deadline to beat. Get your quotes through the VoltHub marketplace, install with a VoltHub-Preferred Contractor, and file for your rebate afterward.

Rebate Amounts

Your rebate depends on what you're replacing and the size of the tank you install.

Replacing a gas water heater

New HPWH tank size Rebate
50 gallon $300
65 gallon $350
80 gallon $400

Replacing a conventional electric resistance water heater

New HPWH tank size Rebate
Any size $150

As a public benefit company, we're committed to decarbonizing homes and buildings. Gas replacements earn more because they deliver larger emissions reductions.

Stacks With Everything Else

The VoltHub Rebate can be combined with any other incentive you qualify for, including:

  • State incentives
  • Regional, utility, CCA and other local rebates
  • Manufacturer and distributor promotions
  • Tax credits (if they come back)

But not:

  • The VoltHub Group Buy Rebate. The VoltHub Rebate is already included in your group buy savings!

Who Qualifies

To be eligible for the VoltHub Rebate, all of the following must be true:

  1. You must be a new to VoltHub - anyone that created an account on VoltHub before August 3, 2026 is not eligible.
  2. You purchased your installation from a VoltHub-Preferred Contractor.
  3. Your association to the VoltHub-Preferred Contractor you installed your project with must have originated from a quote on the VoltHub Marketplace or through the VoltHub team.

Installation Requirements Checklist

Heat pump water heaters only deliver on their efficiency promise when they're installed correctly. Every VoltHub Rebate installation must meet the following:

  • Permit pulled for the installation and finalized
  • Mixing valve installed — extends the usable capacity of the tank and allows you to use your new HPWH as a thermal battery
  • Hot water line insulated coming off the new heat pump water heater
  • Ducting installed if the HPWH is placed in a space smaller than the manufacturer's minimum air volume

A note on that last one: heat pump water heaters pull heat out of the surrounding air, so they need enough air volume to work efficiently. Small louvres in the door of a small outdoor closet are not enough. If your unit is going into a tight closet or alcove that falls under the manufacturer's minimum, it needs proper ducting to qualify. Your VoltHub-Preferred Contractor will flag this if it applies to your home.
